Litter & Fly-tipping

Somerset Council will clear tipped waste from the road verge but not from private land where it is the owner’s responsibility. The District Council can take a prosecution for fly-tipping but needs clear proof of who did it which is, of course, almost impossible to obtain.

In all cases report fly-tipping to Somerset Council but please follow these steps:

Do not touch the waste.

Visually inspect it to determine how much there is.

Note the exact location and whether it is near a ditch or watercourse.

Do not disturb the site.

Report it.

The opening times for the Recycling Centre is:

1 October to 31 March:

Monday – Tuesday: 9am to 5pm

Wednesday: Closed

Thursday – Friday: 9am to 5pm

Saturday – Sunday: 9am to 4pm

1 April to 30 September:

Monday – Tuesday: 9am to 6pm

Wednesday: Closed

Thursday – Friday: 9am to 6pm

Saturday – Sunday: 9am to 4pm

Bank Holidays: Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
